Definition​

An interpretive software as a medical device (SaMD) application intended to be used to analyse suspect dermatoscopy/dermoscopy images to detect abnormalities and provide suggested guidance relating to the abnormality; it might be intended to additionally analyse images captured by a non-medical camera (e.g., smartphone camera). It utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning techniques, and may be compatible with information systems, data formats, and medical imaging software programs [e.g., picture archiving and communication system (PACS), digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) format].
